What did God see in Mary? That he would choose her as mother of His son? Perhaps because Mary was a woman of contemplation, a deep thinker.
“And all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” (Luke 2:18,19)
“Then Jesus went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother pondered all these things in her heart.” (Luke 2:51)
These verses affirm Mary as a deep thinker, thoughtful teen, and meditating mother. She cast thoughts around in her mind, to consider what things meant. She wrote important data on the tablet of her heart and treasured up memories.
Such a pity, Mary,
you lived 2,000 years too soon.
Barefoot, hearth-chained,
and (how dare I say it?)
renowned by association to your men.
But who would God choose to use today to mother His son?
I want to be a deep thinker, a seeker of discernment. Not just letting life happen, but to consider what events mean. To ponder God’s plan and purpose for myself and my family. And for our times.
What Is God Doing?
What is God doing today? And what is my part in it? And yours? What sort of woman does God use today to fulfill His purpose, His plan?
Life can be so hard. Relationships mess up. Situations become complicated. Sorrows and stresses pile up.
Find times to get away from it all. To pray, to think and sink into solitude. To be the deep thinker God appreciates.
Jesus said, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place (a lonely place) and rest awhile.” (Mark 6:31)

Mrs. Bly, I just recently found your husband’s books. I regret that I didn’t find them sooner. I wish I could read more of his books and discuss things with him and you. I haven’t gotten through too many and I’m limited in what my library has. I’ve read about the Fortunes of the black hills (6) and 2 of the Brannon books and I’ve read one of the Horse dreams but have 2 more to read. I intend to get through as many as I can. I have enjoyed the suspense but I’ve enjoyed the humor more. I can see in my minds eye the riders bucked off horses or different other scenarios that happen in the books and get a real belly laugh out of them. My cats have given me the LOOK when they get bounced by my laughing. Thank you for letting me express my enjoyment of these books.
Greetings, Connie: Thank you so much for your kind comments. So glad you’ve enjoyed our Bly Books. Appreciate your taking the time to let me know.
Blessings,
Janet
