31 stops in the Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt. Those who went through each of them in order collected all the clues and entered to win one of three of grand prizes! Here’s the link to Stop #31, showing the Rafflecopter winners: http://lisatawnbergren.com/2016/11/christian-fiction-scavenger-hunt-stop-31-and-prize-entry-form/
My Fall 2016 Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt guest author was Katherine Reay.
Katherine’s first novel, Dear Mr. Knightley, was a 2014 Christy Award Finalist and winner of the 2014 INSPY Award for Best Debut as well as Carol Awards for both Best Debut and Best Contemporary. She is also the writer behind Lizzy & Jane, The Bronte Plot, a 2016 ALA Notable Book Award Finalist, and A Portrait of Emily Price. All Katherine’s novels are contemporary stories with a bit of classical flair. Katherine holds a BA and MS from Northwestern University and is a wife, mother, runner, former marketer, and avid chocolate consumer. After living all across the country and a few stops in Europe, Katherine and her family recently moved back to Chicago.
Katherine Reay presents for us an exclusive Fall 2016 Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt interview …
Cover Interview with Katherine Reay for A Portrait of Emily Price
So what do you think about the cover?
I love it. It went through a couple iterations, as there is so much that could be conveyed visually within the story. This final and lovely choice definitely hits the high notes — art, Italy, art restoration and a beautiful coming-of-age story.
Here’s a peek into the story: After a whirlwind romance and marriage, art restorer and aspiring artist, Emily Price heads home to Italy with her new husband to find that life at its richest is found only when she accepts its chaotic beauty.
How are readers responding?
When the cover was announced a few months ago, folks seemed thrilled. It fits nicely on the shelf with my other books, but the changed color palate hints at something new. A Portrait of Emily Price launched on Tuesday and so far – no has felt misled by the cover and seem to love the story inside.
Is there anything you’d change?
Probably not. I wouldn’t want the cover to get too chaotic. That said, if I had all the space in the world I might throw in a few sunflowers, a medieval hilltop village and a Vespa – then it would really capture a lot the fun within the pages. If you ever pick up A Portrait to Emily Price – let me know what you think. Does the cover match the story inside?

Very cool that Katherine was an Inspy winner back in 2014! Her book sounds good, and I’ve never been to Italy, so it’s fun to read novels of places I’ve never been.
First, I did sign up for the newsletter.
Second, I absolutely love the books you and your husband wrote and just about cried when I found out he had passed away! I even took a trip out west and almost stopped in Argenta somewhere between Nebraska, Wyoming, and Montana. But my favorite series was Tony and Price in your Hidden West series.
I am always looking for new authors though. And Katherine Reay’s book titles alone have peaked my interest. I am a big fan of Jane Austin and these sound exciting!
Jennifer: Wow, so appreciated your kind words! So glad you’ve enjoyed our books. The Hidden West series was such a fun one for us to create together! Just recently re-released all three in the series. So glad to do that as they had been out-of-print for awhile. Blessings to you!

I’m enjoying the scavenger hunt immensely. I’m very interested in books, though I have little time to read them. All authors should be supported and encouraged. I know as a writer myself, it’s a tough world to find the time to sit and be focused. Thanks for participating!

I love scavenger hunts because I learn about new authors. I will read at least one of your books. I quit reading the first chapters of books at the end of a book because I think I’ve already read the book, when I have read the whole thing. But the first of the bookd is so familiar!
I have not read your books before. “Down Squash Blossom Road” sounds good.
Pat: Hope you get a chance to read Down Squash Blossom Road. If you do, let me know what you think of it!
I love the Stephen Bly books! Where is he?? He has a wry sense of humour/writing style that I really enjoy.
Greetings, Arletta: So glad you’ve enjoyed Stephen Bly’s books! He passed away and I sure miss my hubby and writing partner! Trying to keep his books in print. Our 3 sons and I had the great privilege of finishing his last novel for him, Stuart Brannon’s Final Shot, Book 7 of the Stuart Brannon Series. He had 10% of it done and we had a 4-month deadline. We worked hard to keep that wry sense of humour and writing style to the end. What a project! We were so pleased when the book was a Selah Award Finalist!
Signed up for you newsletter and Liked your Facebook page.
