Prayer From Book of Zephaniah
God Almighty, we come in stillness of mind and spirit before you, the Lord our King. We bow in prayer and wholehearted worship, for you are holy and overflow with absolute goodness.
We are wholly yours, trying to do what you command, seeking to right our wrongs. How grateful we are that you stay silent about our past forgiven sins. We’re so privileged to be your children, set apart for a special purpose. We seek to follow you this hour, this day, this week. In constant prayer, we look for advice in every decision, wisdom in each action, and creative input for every project.
We Cry Out
Meanwhile, doom and gloom surround us. We sense your Day drawing nearer. We cry out to you in our distress. Show each of us our part to play to reduce the spread of violence and crime in our communities. Pull out the entrenched evil we name by the long, deadly roots. We realize such an act of your justice will bring incredible upheaval. We throw ourselves and our families on your mercy and grace.
The Day of the Lord
We realize that part of the “day of the Lord” means justice by a righteous judge. That’s why we plead for your divine pardon. Save many in the midst of the fire. After the rage of flames, unite all the purified with unanimous consent to your will and humility to bear your yoke of service on our shoulders. We earnestly wait for you as watchmen and witnesses, to pray into and give testimony of all you’re doing.
Then, after all the quakes die down, we will celebrate with singing, shouting, and great celebration. We’ll be so very glad for the open, public reveal of your great love. You will join in with your own exultation, singing over us in joy. We marvel at your great delight in us. We strain toward that great and glorious hope looming just beyond us in the distance.
No Fear
Meanwhile, we declare we won’t be afraid. We won’t give up but persevere, for you are with us. You quiet us by your love. The quietness of your being, your presence calms us. Yes, you even sing over us!
And we ask a special, specific prayer–keep each of our loved ones safe. We name them one by one. Father them with your most capable, compassionate care. Bless them with your personal invitations of friendship with you. Restore all their losses with incredible heavenly gifts and gains.
A Big Prayer
Plus, we ask a big prayer—turn the hearts of leaders of all nations on every shore to worship you. Bring multitudes of their citizens, as well as captives and outcasts within their borders, to know you as Savior. May many peoples of every tongue and culture serve you. We long to see such a mighty great awakening miracle sweeping the earth in our time! Hallelujah!
In Jesus Name, Amen & Amen
