About the Book

Book 2, The Belles of Lordsburg Series: The General’s Notorious Widow, a western Christian romance novel by Stephen Bly

This western Christian romance novel features Lixie Miller, the General’s wife.  She seeks a secluded hiding place of Lordsburg, New Mexico. But she cannot escape the unwanted notoriety of her husband’s scandalous death.

She longs to be simply a woman with peace and a purpose. But distractions come from every direction. An interesting gentleman enters her life and leaves just as quickly. A dangerous outlaw has burst onto the scene. And the threat of an Indian attack grows.

It has taken everything within her for Lixie to begin to hope her deepest prayers are being answered. But circumstances threaten to take away her dreams once more. Her past held no peace. Her future seemed without purpose. Until Lixie Miller opened her heart to all that God could do.

Everyone has heard about Lixie Miller’s scandalous husband, but few know her heart . . . and not even she knows her future. From the belle of every military ball, to a forgotten woman hiding in desolate New Mexico shadows, Lixie has dropped as far as any woman can. It takes an Indian girl, an interesting gentleman, and a dangerous outlaw to help her find her place.

Excerpt:

She scraped the cold brown grave off a wedge of beef chop and took a bite. Cold, tough, and stringy. Then I became an army wife. I would travel. I would meet people. I would raise a family. But a barren womb. And a barren marriage.

She broke off a hunk of sourdough bread and nibbled on it. Crusty, dry, stale. Of course, I didn’t know it was a barren marriage. He was just busy. Always moving up in the ranks. Always taking troops somewhere. Always needing to check in with the War Department in Washington, D.C. She stayed at the fort and planned a big gala for his return. Little did she know that every time she planned a big affair, he was having one.
