Excerpt from Crystal’s Grand Entry …

Suddenly Crystal sat straight up. The fire had gone completely out. An eerie quiet enveloped the sleeping campgrounds. “Gabrielle, I heard a horse whinny. I know it was Caleb. Something’s wrong!”

“Go to sleep,” Gabrielle mumbled. “Caleb’s all tucked in.”

“No, something’s wrong. I just know it. Come on, let’s go see him.”

The girls slipped on their boots and jackets and took off toward the corral.

“Hey, the gate’s open.” Crystal sped into the corral and back toward the covered stable area. “He’s not here! He’s gone! Somebody took my Caleb!”

Gabrielle shot up beside her, eyes wide open. “But it’s not possible. Who would want to do such a thing?”

Crystal rushed out of the corral gate and screamed at the top of her lungs, “Caleb! Caleb!”
